Mechanical ventilation and HRV: maintenance for a healthy indoor climate

A well-functioning ventilation system provides fresh air, removes moisture and prevents mould. Like your boiler, mechanical ventilation needs regular maintenance. This article explains why and what we do.

Why ventilation maintenance matters

Mechanical ventilation versus HRV

With ordinary mechanical ventilation, stale air is extracted. With heat recovery (HRV, also called balanced ventilation), the heat from the extracted air is reused to pre-warm the fresh air, which saves energy. Both systems need periodic maintenance.

What do we do during maintenance?

We clean or replace the filters, clean the vents and ducts where needed, check the motor and operation, and adjust the system correctly. That keeps your ventilation performing well.

How often is maintenance needed?

Ideally you replace or clean filters a few times a year; major maintenance periodically. We are happy to advise what suits your system, also combined with your boiler maintenance.
